Wouldnt it be nice to dream whatever you want and control the events in this dream world? It is a very simple thing to do and anyone can learn it. It is a great tool for playing out feelings and desires that otherwise would remain hidden in the subconscious mind. You can follow simple methods already being used by others for lucid dreaming sometimes known as conscious dreaming.

Think about what you will want to do when you are lucid dreaming. Do you want to enjoy your dreams more, fly in your dreams, hunt down the villain as in a video game or use them to help you solve problems in other areas? It does not matter why you want to lucid dream as long as you have a goal and a mindset to achieve it.

Before you get started, take a step back and think about what you want to accomplish by means of conscious dreaming do you just want to have more enjoyable dreams, or are there goals in your life which lucid dreaming can help you to reach?

With your goal in mind, the next thing to do is to start learning and practicing the methods which can help you to begin conscious dreaming. A lot of people find the best way to begin to be dream recall. Dream recall is just the process of practicing recalling the details of your dreams.

This ability is the best way to condition your mind for lucid dreaming. You can start by keeping a dream diary, which you keep at your bedside. Right away after awakening, write down each and every detail you can remember of your dreams of the night.

Keeping a dream diary trains your mind to recall and recognize dreams; this makes it easy to awaken during a dream and start asserting control over it.

Hypnosis also helps, whether in conjunction with a dream diary or on its own. This can get you into the right state of mind for conscious dreaming and in as few as a few sessions of hypnosis, most find that they can remember the minutest details of their dreams! Once you can do this, lucid dreaming follows quickly.

At first, you may wake suddenly while having lucid dreams. Dont get discouraged, this is very common. You can often get back to your dream by focusing on the dream as you go back to sleep.

Get to know your sleeping patterns. This will help you find the right time to have the most success at having these dreams. Do not lose too much sleep, if you become very tired, lucid dreaming is not likely to occur.

Try to keep track of your sleep schedule this will help you to figure out when the best times for conscious dreaming are. Be sure not to deprive yourself of too much sleep, as you are actually less likely to have lucid dreams when sleep deprived.

Those afflicted with insomnia and other sleep disorders may be pleased to hear that conscious dreaming can help them to get a better nights sleep it makes it easier to clear away the worries which can keep you from getting to sleep at night.

Conscious dreaming can be learned much easier than you think it doesnt take years of practice to do.

If you are asleep and aware you are dreaming, this means you are having a lucid or conscious dream. This means you can control what happens while you are in this state. You will know you are dreaming so you can decide what happens next.

Conscious Dreaming - For All Ages!

Conscious dreaming (often called lucid dreaming) is the ability to know that you are dreaming even in the midst of one and along with this comes the power to control the dream! When you know youre dreaming, the possibilities are endless.

Many people think that this is something which could only happen in the context of a science fiction novel, but conscious dreaming is something within the reach of every person. With some practice, you can begin having the amazing experiences available to you through lucid dreaming. You can start by using some tried and true conscious dreaming techniques.

Once you have your reasons in order, you need to learn the way to get your mind prepared for lucid dreaming. You must be in the right mental state for this type of dreaming. The first step is to start remembering your dreams. This means the dreams you have every night need to be recalled.

With your goal in mind, the next thing to do is to start learning and practicing the methods which can help you to begin conscious dreaming. A lot of people find the best way to begin to be dream recall. Dream recall is just the process of practicing recalling the details of your dreams.

Learning to remember your dreams will help you to begin conscious dreaming. One thing which works for most is keeping a dream diary. Keep this beside your bed so that as soon as you awake (before your dreams can start melting away in the sun as they tend to do), you can write down all of the details you remember.

Another way besides keeping a record of your dreams is to use hypnosis. It will get you to the mindset necessary to have lucid dreams. Hypnosis is a powerful tool that can get you to remember details in your dreams very quickly. Just a few sessions are all it takes. As with the other method, once you have dream recall, you are ready to have a conscious dream.

Yet another conscious dreaming method is to force yourself to awaken earlier than usual, such as two hours or so. After you have awoken, go ahead and fall back to sleep. This has the effect of making you more aware of your dreams. You may have the illusion that you are lying in bed daydreaming but you are actually asleep and dreaming. Lucid dreaming is very likely to occur if you do this consistently.

Many think of lucid dreaming as something which takes years of practice to learn; but in fact, it isnt that hard. It just takes a little practice to become a conscious dreamer.

If you are asleep and aware you are dreaming, this means you are having a lucid or conscious dream. This means you can control what happens while you are in this state. You will know you are dreaming so you can decide what happens next.

New Beginnings Using Lucid Dreams

Very simply put, a dream in which you are conscious that you are dreaming is known as a Lucid Dream. The expression ‘lucid’ in this context means aware or conscious. But the extent of your ‘lucidity’ can vary according to how stable the dream experience itself is, how much you manage to remember about the dream when you wake up, and also how much influence you have in taking control of the dream itself.

The most remarkable factor about the amazing Lucid Dream is the experience while dreaming. Just being able to identify and impact your dream is astounding. This means that you can direct your dream like a producer does a movie and you have no limits or budget dictating your creation.

Just imagine that for an instant. It looks feels and sounds exactly the same as normal reality, except that you know that it isnt. You know that you are perfectly safe; you cannot die or get injured when lucid dreaming. There are no normal rules and regulations about what you get up to! It is truly your own Individual Virtual Reality’, with a depth of realism far beyond the most sophisticated computer imitation.

Lucid dreaming is an incredible skill that more and more people are mastering. Having a Lucid Dream is something almost everyone experiences very occasionally, but just imagine how exhilarating it would be if you could Lucid Dream whenever you want to!

Lucid Dreams are your gateway to amazing and unforgettable experiences. You can talk to anyone from the past or present, have unbridled erotic experiences and even explore other planets; anything that your mind can conjure up can happen you are in control of your dreams!

It can be fairly complicated to achieve controlled Lucid Dreams on a regular basis. Up until recently many people spent months in training and using special self-conditioning procedures before even experiencing one single Lucid Dream. Even then, most people never even succeed once, let alone on a regular basis.

So are there any simple ways of experiencing a Lucid Dream?

Many people who have experienced a Lucid Dream swear by eating certain foods just prior to the dream. If you would like to try this they usually recommend orange juice, milk, cheese, and mustard. These seem to produce the best results.

Some other people have noted that pickles, ice cream, popcorn, and even fish have assisted them. These may not be as effective in aiding Lucid Dream occurrences. The idea that some people claim is that these foods containing high sugar, high fat, and even high acid content, prepare your brain for the session. They even claim that they prepare your brain to recall the Lucid Dream afterwards. The main issue is that these foods hamper the body and minds ability to produce restful sleep.

Can Technology Assist You?

As technology improves, so does the chance to get assistance with your Lucidity. There are now modern devices that you can use to stimulate and induce lucid dreams. There are innovative devices like masks and eyeshades that notice faster eye movement and blink a red diode when you begin to doze. This red beam is integrated into the dream, and reminds the person who is asleep that they are dreaming. The person can then start to control the dream once they realize that it actually is a dream!

But exciting new developments in sound technology have opened up the world of Lucid Dreams to anybody! A process has been developed by scientists where different sound frequency waves are played in each ear. This is known as binaural beats.

These sound waves synchronize the hemispheres of the brain and produce the brainwaves of REM sleep, which is the state needed for Lucid Dreaming to occur.

If you would really love to experience a Lucid Dream then this is for you. This is definitely one of the easiest methods and devices that assist in achieving a Lucid Dream.

Lucid Dreamers And Other People

Take a minute to consider the possibilities. While everything that happens in a Lucid Dream may seem real and can be experienced by all of your senses, there are no lasting effects to your actions; you can do anything you want without fear of injury when lucid dreaming and there are no limits on the things you can do. This is truly a virtual reality experience which no other can even come close to.

Lucid dreaming is an incredible skill that more and more people are mastering. Having a Lucid Dream is something almost everyone experiences very occasionally, but just imagine how exhilarating it would be if you could Lucid Dream whenever you want to!

A Lucid Dream can be a doorway to some amazing experiences! Meeting and interacting with your favorite celebrity, having untamed erotic fantasies, taking a trip to distant planets, visiting fantasy worlds and touring them, conversing with a lost loved one, in fact anything at all; there are no limits to your imagination!

But experiencing regular and controlled Lucid Dreams can actually be fairly complicated to achieve. Certainly until recently people would spend months going through an instruction training and self-conditioning procedure prior to obtain familiarity to their first lucid dream. Often people would manage to have but brief instants of lucidity, whereas others never succeed in it at all.

Some Simple Ideas that May Produce a Lucid Dream

Many people who have experienced a Lucid Dream swear by eating certain foods just prior to the dream. If you would like to try this they usually recommend orange juice, milk, cheese, and mustard. These seem to produce the best results.

Can Technology Assist You?

There have been some recent technological innovations which can help people to experience Lucid Dreaming. There are LED eyeshades and sleep masks. These LEDs activate once REM sleep is detected. The lights serve to remind the dreamer that they are dreaming. Once the sleeper comes to realize this, they are able to take control of their dreaming experience.

Even more exciting devices are coming to the market. One of these is a piece of sound wave technology. This has opened up a new realm for those whom desire a Lucid Dream. The process involves playing a different sound wave in each ear. This process is known as binaural beats.

Binaural beats serve to induce a synchronizing in both hemispheres of the brain. As if instantly these two special frequencies induce the brain to produce a state of REM sleep. This is where your Lucid Dream can begin.

For anyone wondering what it is like to experience a Lucid Dream, then this is definitely the easiest and most reliable way of getting started!

The Science Behind Lucid Dreams

When you know you are dreaming and you can control your dreams, then these are called lucid dreams. In this kind of a dream you know what you are doing or saying. You can even control your actions, words and even the person you want to be with.

In lucid dreaming, you can get as creative as you want, almost living a dual life once you have mastered how to recall the dreams. You can be the star of a movie where you experience romantic fantasy adventures on a desert island or some action hero that saves the day in lucid dreaming.

While normal dreams may make you feel that you are not in control, when lucid dreaming, you are in the controller’s chair. At times lucid dreams can be so life like that you need to check whether it’s a dream or the real world!

To check whether you are dreaming or not, all you need to do is trying getting something to read. If the words constantly change making reading absolutely impossible then you can be rest assured that this is a lucid dream.

Someone you want to be with may be impossible in real life, but in a lucid dream, you where anything is possible, you can be sitting and talking with a loved one that has passed or a guy you saw at the subway station.

All you have to do is change what is happening in a lucid dream, so that what you want to happen in the dream is what the outcome is. Your creative part of your mind controls your dream, you can be with that person and talk to them as though they are still alive or possibly dream of how you prevent their death in the dream.

Lucid dreams result because the mind is still conscious on some level, even though the body has a biological need for rest. Parts of the mind keep going whether in REM sleep or a semi-conscious lucid dream mode.

You can learn the ways and means to experience lucid dreams. This may take some time but it’s indeed a rewarding process.

You can begin by recalling your dream. Recall the images and express and remember each miniscule detail as poignantly as you can. Your bedside table should have a pen and paper ready to record your observations and images. Initially you may not be able to recall everything. However, you don’t need to dwell on that. With practice your dream will repeat itself and that will enable you to completely record it. This method will help you to record all your lucid dreams and compile a manual which can be referred to when you want.

Lucid dreams can be a great source of inspiration for writers. For your next book you can direct the plot and even control the settings and the characters. You can create the ending as you like as well. With lucid dreams you can enhance your imagination and give a vent to your desires. Lucid dreams can also help you to realize your ambitions.

You need to try and bring to mind all the minute details you can and then try falling asleep again. Most of the times you will be able to return to the point where you left your dream and carry on from there. These dreams repeat themselves and each time your recall will be sharper than the last.

If you wake a couple hours before your normal time, this is often when lucid dreaming happens, much like day dreaming where it seems you are awake the whole time, but you have actually been asleep.

Techniques, such as self-hypnosis can sometimes help you to recall vividly your lucid dreams, but many people find recalling lucid dreams easy to do.

The latest invention in sound technology is known as the binaural beats which are special frequencies. These can work at increasing the coordination between the two hemispheres and cause your brainwaves to match the frequency required for lucid dreaming. This is a great shortcut to enter the state of lucid dreams.

How Technology Helps With Conscious Dreaming.

Perhaps more commonly known as lucid dreaming, conscious dreaming includes the ability to realize that you are dreaming while you are doing so and the ability to take control of your dreams, dictating the happenings. Once you are able to realize that you are dreaming, you can go anywhere or do anything in your dream.

While having the ability to control your dreams may sound farfetched, its actually something which is within your reach. Lucid dreaming isnt that hard to do and these dreams are a great place to express your true self and your desires. There are techniques which have proven effective at producing lucid dreams.

To begin you need to think about what you want to gain. Do you want to have fun and live out your fantasies, or do you want to use lucid dreaming to help solve problems in your life. Maybe you are just curious about what the experience is like. It does not matter what your goal is as long as you keep it in mind and stay confident that you will achieve it.

After you define the reasons for wanting to learn to dream consciously, you can learn the steps to get your mind on the right level. You need to be in the right state of mind to be able to lucid dream. A good place to start is recalling your dreams. This means to remember any dreams you have had.

To start conscious dreaming, you have to learn to recall the dreams you have. The way which seems to help most people with this is to keep a dream diary by your bed. When you awake, write down every detail you can remember from your dreams. Do this as soon as you wake; our dreams have a way of slipping away from us quickly.

Before long, youll find yourself able to remember more of your dreams and your dream diary can help refresh your memory. Once your mind is trained to remember dreams, the ability to recognize them while they are happening will follow easily. You might, like many do, come to the awareness suddenly that you are dreaming!

Other than keeping dream diary, many find hypnosis helpful. Hypnosis can help you to quickly reach the appropriate state for conscious dreaming. In fact, hypnosis can help you to recall every detail of your dreams in only a few sessions! Conscious dreaming is easy once this is accomplished.

When you first start lucid dreaming, you might awaken suddenly from them; this is a pretty common occurrence. To get back into these dreams, focus on the details of the dream as you return to sleep.

Another technique is to set your alarm for two or three hours earlier than usual then going back to sleep once awoken. It is a lot easier to have lucid dreams in the hours before you usually awake. It may even be unclear to you if these were dreams or you were just thinking as you lay awake. With practice, this technique will lead to conscious dreaming.

Youll want to know your sleeping patterns, since this can help you to determine when the best times are for lucid dreams. However, youll still want to make sure to get plenty of sleep. When you are fatigued, youll have a harder time conscious dreaming.

However, you may be glad to find out that lucid dreaming can help to alleviate insomnia and other sleep problems. When you learn how to use the ability of conscious dreaming, you can train your mind to stop the worries which keep you up.

You may think that lucid dreaming will take years to master however, its something you can do with relatively little practice!

In fact, conscious dreaming is something that everyone can do. Just practice and use these techniques to develop your own lucid dreaming abilities youll find that it has a lot to offer.

The Science Behind Lucid Dreaming

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

“Conscious Dreaming” or Lucid Dreaming involves remaining aware during a dream. That is, when you are having a lucid dream, you know that you are dreaming; but you are still “inside” the dream, not standing outside looking in. In dreams as in life, awareness gives you great power, and you have power over the course of your very own dreams.

Having lucid dreams is having the power to control the direction of your dream which is an element of your metaphysical existence. You will notice that all the limitations of reality seem to swiftly cease to exist.

But of course, if this power is so great, the question is: can lucid dreaming really be learned by just about everyone? Or does one have to have special, unique talents?

You can easily practice lucid dreaming. Many studies prove that you have the ability to do this, if you commit yourself to learning how to harness this powerful medium while expressing your inner desires.

Not only that, you have to have very defined objectives about exactly what you want to accomplish with your lucid dreaming. Is this about recreation? Is it about solving a problem whose answer eludes you in your waking life? Is this about enhancing your creativity? It’s up to you, but it’s got to be clear. Your objective itself must be lucid!

Once you understand your reason you will begin the learning process of how to lucid dream. You will need to learn Dream Recall. This is the ability to recall a dream from the previous night. You will not be able to lucid dream until you can recall a dream.

It can be slow going to master this skill. The best way to proceed is with keeping a dream journal, sometimes called a Dream Recall Register. You write down your previous night’s dreams as fully as possible. It’s most effective to do this when you first wake up. In time, you will realize that you’ve trained your mind to be able to recall even the smallest details of your dreams. When you reach this stage, you are ready to make the journey into lucid dreaming.

Some individuals have found that the time for preparing the subconscious mind for experiencing lucid dreaming is reduced greatly by having hypnosis. You have the ability to continually recall your dreams by having one or two sessions, in most cases. Once this occurs your mind is then conditioned for lucid dreaming.

Now when you start trying to practice lucid dreaming, you could find that you suddenly awaken from a dream–and then you’ll find yourself able to recall that dream immediately. be All you need do at this point is relax and let yourself drift back to sleep, and you’ll be able to enter that same dream and pick up right where you left off. Upon waking, you will now know that you have the great power of lucid dreaming coming fully under your control.

Another good way of inducing lucid dreams is to wake a few hours earlier than usual, then go back to sleep. The dreams you will have in these few hours are the easiest to make into lucid dreams. You may even find yourself unsure whether you have been sleeping or just thinking to yourself as you lay in bed. Just set your alarm for a few hours early, wake and reset the alarm and then go back to sleep and you will be more likely to have lucid dreams.

When learning lucid dreaming, it helps to be well aware of your sleep patterns so you know when the best times for you to have lucid dreams are.

Insomniacs receive tremendous help from lucid dreaming. When you can let it sink into your mind that when you go to sleep and lucid dream you are “reclaiming the sleep hours”, the problems that are keeping you awake at night are seen as problem-solving opportunities, not blockages, by your subconscious mind, and that part of your mind then makes it so that you can fall deeply asleep and no longer suffer.

It once was the case that it could take years to learn lucid dreaming; the only way to prepare the mind was meditation, which took a long time to master. A lot of people lack the discipline and would simply give up. New technologies, especially audio technology have made it possible for anyone to experience lucid dreaming.

The technology of binaural audio recordings has been tested and proven to give enormous help to people who want to lucid dream.

Binaural audio involves listening to two slightly different frequencies in each ear. This synchronizes brain waves to the state where lucid dreaming is most likely to occur and at the same time causes deep relaxation.

Before this technology, meditation was the technique of choice, which did not work out so well for many people. Binaural audio is much faster and works reliably for the majority of people.

But binaural sound wave technology can be used in tandem with hypnosis to “fast track” a person into the power of lucid dreaming.

Using Your Full Brain: How to Use Your Subconscious

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009
North Light Art Escapes Project Book Art Escapes

Your subconscious mind is easily the most powerful force on the planet and it shouldn’t be underestimated. Everything you do or say or think begins in your mind. When you can tap the power of your subconscious mind, that power can be manifested to your conscious mind.

Let’s given an example. When you first learn to do something say changing the channel on the TV you think about it, you fumble for the remote, and you go through your choices. After a while, you learn to channel hop without consciously thinking about it because your subconscious mind power has figured out where the remote is and knows what you want to watch.

Now we should take a look at how we get an action to become subconscious to that regard. If, for instance, something that you didn’t like ends showing on the screen, you’ll find that you have the urge to change the channel. Your subconscious mind has a lot of impact on the way that you act, and you’ll discover that over time, so long as you have the right training. You are going to get a lot of good in the quality of your life by utilizing the power of your subconscious mind.

Utilizing the full power, and properly training your subconscious mind can be the difference between letting your life control you and you controlling your life. While we’re told too often of the ‘dangers’ of the subconscious, it’s really a well of untapped potential to be used. It’s an example of negative expectations drawing negative results.

So we need to communicate with our subconscious mind to improve our lives. Many people feel that this is too complicated a task to undergo, but really it is simplicity itself by following a few simple steps. Just accept that Self improvement has to start with ‘thinking’ about it first.

The simplest way to unlock the potential of your unconscious mind is through affirmation. Affirmation can be as simple as saying ‘Yes We Can’. It’s just a reminder of the positive aspects around you and how to take advantage of them to get the desired result.

Let’s imaging you have a task you’re putting off; it’s tedious, it’s boring, there are more interesting things to do. When you think of that task that you’re putting off, you feel tired, you get easily distracted. This is an example of a stress reaction where your subconscious is making your life more difficult by imagining the negative outcome. An affirmation can help you overcome the distractedness and let you focus on achieving what needs to be done.

When you want to make sure that you are thinking positively, considered how great the rewards are going to be when you want to perform the task. You can also look in your mirror and tell yourself that you are the best person for this task and that the end result is going to be something simply stunning; this can make a huge difference to the work that you are doing.

Affirmations have also been used to help people change destructive habits like overeating and drinking or smoking. Double blind studies have shown that affirmations have a positive impact on people’s lives. It can change subconscious behaviors and improve your life.

Affirmations can come from outside as well; things like hypnotic therapy are just conduits to putting affirmations into your subconscious mind. It can be done by going to a hypnotherapist or listening to pre-recorded hypnosis audios.

Another technique, which has come from Tibetan monasteries, is to use biowave or binaural beats to synchronize your brain waves. You listen through a set of headphones and both sounds are slightly off tone from each other; this induces both parts of your brain to synchronize, and puts you into a deep meditative trance with little effort.

Complete mastery of your subconscious mind’s power takes years of training, as shown by highly trained Buddhist monks. They are able to display amazing abilities through mastering and controlling their subconscious power so that it manifests through their conscious minds. Things like levitation or breaking solid objects without pain or injury.

When you are looking at how to use your subconscious mind, don’t be surprised if you can actually manipulate matter on a subatomic level. The Secret is just one source that will make use of this concept, which is known as the law of attraction. Not only is it theoretically possible, there are many people who believe that there is a scientific principle behind it; all you need to do is to activate it!

More traditional sciences, such as quantum physics, are beginning to recognize the significance of the power many ancient civilizations accessed by understanding their own subconscious minds. The ability to alter and influence your own reality comes from tapping the power within yourself.

There is more power in your subconscious mind than you know. Consider what you need to learn when you are thinking about working with it, whether you want to open up new doors or just give up an unfortunate habit.

The Art Of Lucid Dreaming

“Conscious Dreaming” or Lucid Dreaming involves remaining aware during a dream. That is, when you are having a lucid dream, you know that you are dreaming; but you are still “inside” the dream, not standing outside looking in. In dreams as in life, awareness gives you great power, and you have power over the course of your very own dreams.

Having control over your lucid dreams is an incredible experience. Everything which you thought you couldn’t keep from holding you back from your goals just falls before you and you have new found mental clarity, even when awake.

But of course, if this power is so great, the question is: can lucid dreaming really be learned by just about everyone? Or does one have to have special, unique talents?

Luckily, it’s really not that hard to begin lucid dreaming, as long as you are determined to learn it. There are proven ways to help you access this ability and use your untapped mental power.

You need to know what you hope to achieve through lucid dreaming. Are you after something specific which can help you with other areas of your life, or do you just want to turn your dreams into a playpen of the imagination? Whatever your reason for wanting to learn lucid dreaming, know your goal and be determined to reach it.

The next step is to learn the techniques of reaching the mental state where lucid dreaming is possible. You’ll have to begin learning dream recall, which is simply remembering your dreams. To begin lucid dreaming, you need to first be able to recall every detail of the dreams that you have.

You have the ability to continually recall your dreams by having one or two sessions, in most cases. Once this occurs your mind is then conditioned for lucid dreaming.

You will find at first that you sometimes will awake suddenly during lucid dreams. This is normal. Just recall the events of your dream as you try to fall back asleep and attempt to reenter the dream, steering in the direction that you want it go.

Many newer practitioners find it immensely helpful to lucid dream in the wee dawn hours just before they wake up for the day; at this point, our thoughts are already preparing for the day ahead, so the dream state and thoughts about the waking state combine.

When learning lucid dreaming, it helps to be well aware of your sleep patterns so you know when the best times for you to have lucid dreams are.

Lucid dreaming can help people with insomnia and other sleep disorders. If you have trouble sleeping, just tell yourself “Sleeping equals lucid dreaming” and your subconscious mind will help you become free of the thoughts keeping you awake.

It once was the case that it could take years to learn lucid dreaming; the only way to prepare the mind was meditation, which took a long time to master. A lot of people lack the discipline and would simply give up. New technologies, especially audio technology have made it possible for anyone to experience lucid dreaming.

Binaural audio is one of the most reliable methods of getting people to have lucid dreams.

Binaural audios work by playing various degrees of frequencies into each ear. The results are deeply relaxing for the listener and then shifting their brain waves to the same frequency for having lucid dreams.

Before this technology, meditation was the technique of choice, which did not work out so well for many people. Binaural audio is much faster and works reliably for the majority of people.

But binaural sound wave technology can be used in tandem with hypnosis to “fast track” a person into the power of lucid dreaming.

Do you want to dream lucidly? Knowing that you want to have a lucid dream is a good start, but it’s not all you’ll need to do. There are several different methods you can use.

So, what is so good about being a lucid dreamer? What would you gain from it? In order to understand the advantages of being aware when you are dreaming, we need to examine what regular sleep actually is.

Why lucid dreaming? When you go to sleep, you normally get into bed, close your eyes for a length of time, and then you either dream or aren’t conscious of anything for a while before waking up. Normal sleep isn’t very interesting!

Normal sleep just seems to serve the purpose of simply refreshing ourselves in order to live out the next day. But what if you could control that period of time that you have dreams?

How would you like to control what you do while in your dream? Control the events that happen in it in any way you like. A lucid dreamer is in complete control of their dreams. They are able to enter the spiritual realm of existence far removed from what exists in the physical waking hours.

How can a person achieve this? How do you learn to be a lucid dreamer? DILD refers to a dream initiated lucid dream. You need to realize you are dreaming. In other words, if you are dreaming and know it, you are having a lucid dream.

Method number two is a wake initiated lucid dream, or WILD. This is when the dreamer begins awake, then goes to being asleep, but without losing consciousness. The dreamer enters their dream as though via a door, instead of waking up inside a dream he or she is already having.

How do you go about achieving these two states of lucid dreaming?

Remember your dreams.

If you’d like to lucid dream, perhaps one of the most successful way of doing so is known as dream recall. Dream recall is simply the ability to remember one’s dreams. By remembering your dreams, you are able to recognize them when you are sleeping, because most likely, you will have the same dream, or at least aspects of it, more than once.

The best way to practice dream recall is through keeping a dream journal. This is a tool in which you write down whatever you can remember about your dream so you can recall it in the future. Do this right after you wake up - dreams are harder to remember the longer you wait.

MILD refers to Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams

This technique was developed by Dr. Stephen LaBerge, one of the lead scientists in the field of lucid dreaming. To use this method, just tell yourself about an object or element that you will remember. When you dream, there’s a good chance you’ll see this element, then realize that you’re dreaming.

Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)

The process here is to go to sleep, doing nothing but setting your alarm to wake you up a few hours later (5 or 6). Once you wake up, DO NOT go back to sleep. Instead, do something else like read for a while, or think as much as you can about lucid dreaming for around an hour then go back to bed.

According to Dr. LaBerge, this technique has a success rate of about sixty percent. That’s because you’ve awakened in the middle of the sleep process, while you’re still in the middle of an REM cycle and not completely aware. It’s like telling your mind that you’re interested in lucid dreaming.

Cycle Adjustment Technique

Daniel Love came up with this way to accomplish lucid dreaming. Start getting up an hour and a half earlier. After you get used to this, go back to getting up at your usual time. Since you are used to getting up earlier but dont have to now, your mind is still thinking you are awake, therefore you will be more likely to be aware in your dream.

Wake-initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD)

This method was described before. If you would like to achieve a lucid dream this way, all you have to do is to keep your mind awake while you body falls asleep. This is perhaps the most interesting way of entering a lucid dream. It is as if you are getting ready to watch a movie. You are in the real world, you sit on your couch, you turn on the TV and press play (starting to sleep), the screen is black (in the same way as when your eyes are closed), and all you have to do is wait for the movie to actually start.

There are several different ways to hold onto awareness, including imagining going up or down a flight of stairs, chanting, counting numbers, breaths, or anything else, breathing control, and muscle relaxation. These and other self-hypnosis methods will give you something to concentrate on, but don’t do this when you’re tired, or you may lose consciousness.

They now have tools you can use to make it even easier to induce lucid dreams. You can get dreaming masks and devices with strobe lights to help you get into the right state of dreaming.

The best and easiest way to achieving the state of lucid dreaming is by using headphones. You should listen to sounds that naturally alter your brainwaves, these are called binaural beats.

These work by synchronizing the two hemispheres of the brain and have the effect of almost instantaneously changing your brainwaves to the REM frequency needed for a lucid dream to occur.

Anyone can learn to be a lucid dreamer. Practice the self hypnosis and keep telling yourself when awake that you will be aware when you are dreaming. This will prepare you for your lucid dream experience.
