Tattoo Art: As Skin Decorations

North Light Art Escapes Project Book Art Escapes

Accessorizing the body through the use of tattoo pictures has been around for centuries. However, there are now other ways in which to use these pictures in our North American society. With our society becoming more accepting of body tattoos, it is only natural that a tattoo artist will branch out into other areas in which to display their works of art.

One of the earliest ways that tattoo pictures crossed over into more mainstream avenues is through picture frames. Many picture frames that have a handcrafted look to them will utilize tattoo designs to make the frames look more attractive. Butterfly tattoos, flowers or other typical images will be adorned on the frame. They aren’t just drawings of butterflies, but are stylized images that look exactly how a tattoo of a butterfly would look on your body.

With the internet and computers becoming used all the time by virtually everyone, tattoo pictures have become a form of digital decoration. People will use a tattoo picture for their Facebook image, as a screen saver or as the background for their desktop. This is tattoo art design at its best, as perfectly symmetrical images can be created using powerful software, and a level of detail impossible to reproduce on the human body can be created for use on the computer.

The use of tattoo pictures to enhance religious or spiritual beliefs is as old as the beginning of time. A tribal tattoo design would show which tribe you belonged to, and it also may have had a spiritual connection to it. Christmas decorations such as ornaments will have images on them which can have deep meaning or just show a nice tattoo picture. Even in a home, images representing a religious belief or a spiritual connection may be expressed through works that are significant to the owner. For example, having statues of either wood or stone that have been carved from a tattoo image can be a personal expression of the home owner’s beliefs.

Each individual has the right to utilize tattoo pictures either in the form of body art, or in the form of decoration. Whether it is on the computer, your home, or to show people that you have certain religious or spiritual beliefs, tattoo ideas surround us now more than ever. Utilizing this form of art has gone beyond the body and while more people are accepting of body art, you do have a choice if you’d rather not put a tattoo on your body but still want to express yourself in a unique way.
